RELATIONS WITH BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Diplomatic relations between the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and Bosnia and Herzegovina were established on January 31, 1997.
On March 3, 1998, the first Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Lorenzo Tacchella, handed over the letters of credence to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Mr. Alija Izetbegović.
The Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Bosnia and Herzegovina was opened in October 1998.
In January 2022, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, was received by the then Lieutenant of the Grand Master Fra’ Marco Luzzago in the Order of Malta’s Magistral Villa in Rome. President Komšić thanked the Order of Malta “on behalf of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina for decades of medical and social initiatives to support the community, before and after the Balkan war.”
On June 20, 2024. the current Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Mr. Silvano Pedrollo, presented his credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina H.E. Mr. Denis Bećirović.
